Mallacoota Mudbrick Pavilion is a valuable, volunteer built, heritage building that was originally constructed as a soccer pavilion. It has been used for many years as the local community hall and hub for performing arts. The building is used by many community organisations for meetings and events.
The project will see the upgrade the entire facility to meet growing demand through the refurbishment of the existing structure along with some small extensions.
The proposed outcomes of the Mallacoota Mudbrick Pavilion are:
Upgrade the kitchen and bring this facility up to commercial grade with hygiene stations for hand washing and cleaning
An all-abilities toilet to be installed within the pavilion.
External toilets to be refurbished
Upgrade/extension of storage facilities
Rebuild of stage to provide additional depth and upgrade of stage access to improve safety and amenity.
Construction of separate studio/workshop, including dedicated wash-up facilities.

Further updates will be provided on YourSay following the Council Election on 26 October 2024, and the questions/feedback tab will be reinstated.
From 12.00 noon Tuesday 17 September until 6.00 pm on Saturday 26 October (Election Day) we will be in the Local Government Election Period (also known as Caretaker Period).
During this time, we will limit our printed communications, website content, social media activity, and community consultations. The ability for people to comment on our social media content will also be disabled during the Election Period.
Each of these steps is to ensure our content does not affect voting in the election and is consistent with steps taken by other Victorian Councils and the Local Government Act 2020.
These changes are only temporary; we'll be back to normal communication activity after the election.

We are excited to share that significant progress has been made on the Pavilion renovation project - here's an update!
Internal Plastering: The plastering work inside the Mudbrick Pavilion has been successfully completed. The new walls are now ready for the next stages of finishing.
Lighting: The installation of the new lighting system has been finalised, enhancing the facility's ambiance and functionality.
Sound Booth Wall: The wall for the sound booth in the theatre is complete. We consulted with a sound engineer from the Forge in Bairnsdale to ensure the design meets our acoustic needs and provides the best possible sound experience.
What's next? All remaining components for the project are now on hand, and we are in the process of scheduling their installation over the coming weeks.
We are working diligently to complete the renovations and are enthusiastic about the improvements that will benefit everyone in the community. Our goal is to hand over the upgraded Mudbrick Pavilion to the Mallacoota Recreation Reserve and Halls Committee of Management by the end of August 2024.
Thank you for your continued support and patience. We look forward to unveiling the enhanced Mudbrick Pavilion and celebrating its new features with you soon!

Upgrades to the Mallacoota Mudbrick Pavilion have commenced.
The kitchen is undergoing a transformation, with new equipment and cabinetry being installed and designed in a way to retain the original character of the building. Much of the building upgrade works are being completed by Council teams to meet budget requirements and project deadlines.
Any required closures will be limited to minimise interruption to the operation schedule of the pavilion and will be advised in advance.

Design drawings were received last week.
We are currently waiting for the engineering design for the removal of structural elements.
Due to delays with design documents the project is likely to begin in the 2023/24 financial year.
