Stage 2 of the Marine Parade upgrade will start Monday 20 April at the Barkes Avenue intersection. The works include full road reconstruction, drainage improvements, and new kerb and channel. The project will take around 12 weeks, with lane closures and detours expected while Marine Parade will remain open. The works are focused on improving safety, slowing traffic in key areas, and making it easier for people to move around on foot.

The Marine Parade upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian Government through the Victorian Infrastructure Investment Program and Council.

Marine Parade will remain open during construction, however, some lane closures and minor delays are expected. The Barkes Avenue intersection will be closed for most of the works, with detours in place. Council and contractors will work closely with residents to maintain access to properties wherever possible.

Construction Timeline and Traffic Management: The works are expected to take up to 12 weeks to complete. The Barkes Ave section will have an extended period of road closure detours in place during construction. Marine Parade will remain open, however, there will be temporary lane closures.

Contractors will liaise directly with residents during the works, providing advance notice regarding any disruptions.

Note: works are also set to begin on Church Street and will continue through to August 2026. The project includes raised pedestrian crossings, upgraded lighting, and changes to speed humps to improve pedestrian safety.

TEMPORARY BOAT RAMP CLOSURE

		War Memorial boat ramp & carpark Friday 6 September 2024 to Friday 29 November 2024 while we carry out improvements to Marine Parade. Alternative boat ramps are to the west at - North Arm Boat Ramp (next to Apex Park playground) Skate Park Boat Ramp.

The closure of the boat ramp will ensure we complete the work as quickly as possible.

Alternative boat ramps are North Arm Boat Ramp (next to Apex Park playground) and the Skate Park Boat Ramp.

Visitors to the area are asked to observe the construction signage and all directions from the contractor during the works.

Our contractor, Cranes Asphalting and Bitumen Sealing, has made visible headway into the construction of the car parking along the north side of Marine Parade, which will provide an anticipated total of 50 formalised parking spaces when completed.

In addition to the current project scope, improvements will be made to the intersection of Marine Parade and Carstairs Avenue to significantly reduce localised flooding in the area.

There were some delays due to design issues and wet weather, however, Cranes is diligently working to complete the project before the busy Christmas holiday season.

Our contractors, Cranes Asphalting and Bitumen Sealing have since made significant progress and you can already see the carparking bays taking shape.

Drainage infrastructure works have also commenced at the main boat ramp carpark and the Laura Street intersection.

The wet weather has caused some minor delays; however, the Cranes' crew continues to work between weather events when possible.

Works have been staged to minimise disruptions, and road safety measures have been implemented including signage, traffic lights, and fencing.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured $1.2 million to complete the proposed road safety improvements for Marine Parade, Lakes Entrance. Thanks to the successful outcome of the Government's review, this project will now proceed to tender stage.

The project area extends from the entry roundabout at Princes Highway, along Marine Parade to the Barkes Avenue intersection, and will include traffic calming measures to improve pedestrian safety and on-road parking.

Works are scheduled to be completed during 2024. This is a great outcome for our community.

In addition to this positive outcome, Council was advised of increased funding through the Roads to Recovery and Black Spot Funding programs.
