Bairnsdale Airport - Rehabilitation of Taxiway and Hangar Apron
Council has commenced planning for the rehabilitation of the Bairnsdale airport taxiway and hangar apron.
Extensive pavement improvement work is required on the large apron in front of the hangar precinct and taxiway C. The airport apron is the area where the aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refuelled, boarded, or maintained. This apron is not open to the public. The improvement work can no longer be completed in the scheduled maintenance program.
The proposed works will improve the safety of aircraft, operators and passengers, the delivery of goods and services and better meet the operational requirements of aeromedical and other emergency services.
Objective and scope:
This project is to rehabilitate the apron and taxiway. The design work will include -
- site investigations
- drainage investigations
- survey, and
- detailed design of a compliant apron and taxiway
