Council secured funding through Sport and Recreation Victoria to contribute to the development of a new Gymnastics facility in Lucknow, Bairnsdale.
The East Gippsland Gymnastics Centre is based at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve, complementing and sitting beside the existing squash and table tennis centre.
Site construction activities commenced on 9 May 2022 and are now complete.
Funding for this project was provided by Council, State Government and the East Gippsland Gymnastics Club.
This new home for the Club features two Olympic-sized inground trampolines and an open-ended trampoline that flows into a six-square-metre landing bag.
A "ninja zone" includes a scaffolding rig and other challenging obstacles.
A mezzanine viewing area with associated seating and heating complement the facility.
Since relocating to the new facility, the Club has experienced an increase in participation and membership, especially now trampolining and a fit-for-purpose ninja program are on offer.

The East Gippsland Gymnastics Centre car park is nearing completion.
Line marking has been completed and now clearly defines road access and parking spaces. New light poles have been purchased, and installation scheduled to commence as soon as they are available on site.

Lucknow Recreation Reserve Access Road and off-road parking
Works on the new access road and off-road parking beside the new Gymnastics Pavilion are progressing well.
The new retaining wall is complete.
Footpath works have commenced.
Subsoil drainage works are complete.
Lighting works are underway.
Pavement works are complete.
Sealing/asphalting of pavement will be completed after footpath works have been completed.

Official Opening
We had a great time opening the East Gippsland Gymnastics Centre. Thank you to everyone who came and to all the gymnasts for putting on a great show. This $2.53 million project was funded by $800,000 from Sport and Recreation Victoria, $1.63 million from Council and $100,000 from East Gippsland Gymastics Club. Our contractors Eastern Victoria Construction Group Pty Ltd EVCG also came along to see the end result of their work.

Trampoline and airbags are now installed. Final handover to club will occur when council receive the ‘as built’ drawings.
Recreation Reserve user groups and neighbours have been advised that the roadworks around the new gymnasium will commence soon.

The new Lucknow Gymnastics Pavilion is complete and looks fabulous!!
The final building inspection will be conducted for the certificate of occupancy next week.
The building can soon be handed over to the East Gippsland Gymnastics Club.

The last internal concrete pour was completed today.

Construction of the new gymnasium is going well. West end concrete was poured on 9/2/2023, with the last pour to the middle section to be completed next week.
Tiling - to the showers and toilets is nearly complete
Internal painting - complete this week with touch ups to be done late next week.

The new Lucknow Gymnastics Pavilion is progressing well. The roof is now fully covered with purlin rubber and riveting will soon be completed.
The sunken pit for the trampolines is well underway.
Concrete was poured for the floor to the east 1/3 of the building.
Timber framing and flooring has been delivered for the toilet, office, and mezzanine areas. Framing will begin on the office and toilet areas on Monday.
Windows and front entry slider are installed.
Concrete to the front path and services area will be set up Thursday 24 November, with a pour early next week.
