The upgrade of Lake Tyers Beach Road aims to significantly improve our community’s infrastructure to create a more resilient and efficient road network that not only improves drainage and reduces maintenance but also enhances safety and accessibility for all road users.

This project is being undertaken in stages, with Stage 1 already completed and significant planning underway for Stages 2 and 3.

Objective and scope

The objective of this project is to design and implement recommended infrastructure upgrades identified as part of the drainage investigations undertaken by our contractor, as well as a shared concrete footpath.

Stage 1 is complete

The upgrade of Lake Tyers Beach Road aims to significantly improve our community’s infrastructure to create a more resilient and efficient road network that not only improves drainage and reduces maintenance but also enhances safety and accessibility for all road users.

This project is being undertaken in stages, with Stage 1 already completed and significant planning underway for Stages 2 and 3.

Objective and scope

The objective of this project is to design and implement recommended infrastructure upgrades identified as part of the drainage investigations undertaken by our contractor, as well as a shared concrete footpath.

Stage 1 is complete and has seen the upgrade of road drainage infrastructure (kerb and channel) from the Lake Tyers foreshore carpark to Flounder Road.

Stage 2 & 3 are in the planning phase and will see the redevelopment of eight intersections along Lake Tyers Beach Road, a shared concrete footpath from Flounder Road to Bream Road, kerb and channel, drainage upgrades, improved road pavement, and formalised bus stop bays in the section of Lake Tyers Beach Road from Flounder Road to Bream Road.

Investigations to understand the drainage improvement from Flounder Road to Bream Road intersection will be used to design enhanced infrastructure to improve resilience and reduce future maintenance.

Consultation and community engagement

A Project Reference Group will be formed with representation from residents and key stakeholders, and design consultation meetings held during the concept design stage.

Funding

Funding for construction of Stage 2 has been allocated by Council's adopted Budget for FY 2024/25 and stage 3 will be considered in the next financial year and is subject to budget review.

Further updates will be provided on YourSay following the Council Election on 26 October 2024, and the questions/feedback tab will be reinstated.

From 12.00 noon Tuesday 17 September until 6.00 pm on Saturday 26 October (Election Day) we will be in the Local Government Election Period (also known as Caretaker Period).

During this time, we will limit our printed communications, website content, social media activity, and community consultations. The ability for people to comment on our social media content will also be disabled during the Election Period.

Each of these steps is to ensure our content does not affect voting in the election and is consistent with steps taken by other Victorian Councils and the Local Government Act 2020.

These changes are only temporary; we'll be back to normal communication activity after the election.
