Black Spot funded road safety improvements on Tambo Upper Road in Tambo Upper were completed in June 2024.
Council was successful in acquiring additional Black Spot Funding to undertake road safety improvements on Tambo Upper Road in Tambo upper.
Tambo Upper Road winds through the rural area of Tambo Upper. The section of road to be upgraded consists of shaded areas where there is a distance of low vision between corners. The proposed safety improvements will allow road users to safely negotiate through winding sections of Tambo Upper Road, which also lead to a local school and provides a connection between two arterial roads, Princes Hwy and Bruthen-Nowa Nowa Road.
Project Objective and Scope
As a popular tourist destination, these works will improve road user safety through the speed reduction effect due to improved identification of corners.
This project will provide safety treatments to approximately 2.9km of Tambo Upper Road in Tambo Upper, from 180m south of Wards Road through to 500m south of Jennings Road, including the installation of additional guard rail on identified sections where significant geographical drop-offs exist, installation of audio tactile line marking to warn of lane crossing, and signage renewal.
These treatments are proven effective and suit the geographical footprint of the road.
Budget
This project has been funded through Australian Government Black Spot Program 2023/2024.
