Raymond Island - Replacement of Ferry Landings
The landing pads for the Raymond Island Ferry are deteriorating and need replacing. The structures are made of timber sleepers covered in bitumen and the timbers are reaching end of life. Council has engaged a design consultant to perform investigations and develop detail design for future construction of safe and reliable structures.
Objective and scope
This project will see the redesign and replacement of both ferry landings (Paynesville and Raymond Island) in order to safely support the ferry ramps when they lower to load and unload vehicles and passengers, and to prevent the collapse of the landings.
The construction of the upgrades is expected to occur during the next ferry slipping in October 2025 to minimise the impact on Raymond Island residents and visitors.
Community engagement
Council will keep community informed throughout the delivery of this project. Updates will be provided in the tab below and a newsletter distributed to those who sign up to follow this project on YourSay.
Council will provide plenty of notice to community advising changes to the Ferry service to undertake these works, which are likely to occur during the next ferry slipping in October 2025 following the development of detailed design.
