We are delivering improvements to the Marlo Foreshore to enhance recreation facilities, accessibility and overall visitor experience at this well‑used fishing and community destination.
The project focuses on upgrading ageing infrastructure and providing safer, more inclusive amenities that better support locals and visitors of all ages and abilities, while maintaining the foreshore’s role as a valued public space.
The Marlo Foreshore Management Plan provides clear and agreed directions for management of the foreshore areas adjoining the Marlo township. The overarching management objective is to recognise the potential for recreational pursuits and tourism opportunities within the area whilst maintaining important environmental values.
Project Scope
Two options for future enhancement of the Marlo foreshore area were considered by the Marlo Resident and Ratepayers Association. Further scope options outside of these may be considered.
The Marlo Foreshore improvements will deliver:
Replacement of the existing barbeque shelter and installation of a new barbeque.
New picnic tables and bench seating.
Construction of accessible (DDA‑compliant) footpaths.
Upgraded parking areas, including accessible parking and shared spaces.
Installation of supporting infrastructure such as bin stands and bicycle stands.
In addition to the Marlo Foreshore Management Plan, Council wishes to establish a sustainable stormwater strategy for the township of Marlo to address existing flooding issues brought to its attention through community feedback. To read more visit: Marlo Town Drainage

The Erosion Assessment Report has been completed.
Council will use the results of the Erosion Assessment Report and the Marlo Drainage Assessment to prioritise works to reduce the erosion caused by drainage issues on the Marlo foreshore, and to ease drainage concerns within Marlo.
Initial site visits and consultation with local community groups has informed the development of the Preliminary Masterplan, which contains proposed actions for improvements.
The feature and level survey has been completed for the boat ramp area along Beach Road and also some of the trails within the foreshore area. The survey results will inform the development of concept plans, which will be made available to the public once completed.

The Marlo Foreshore management plan implementation project is progressing well.
EGSC have engaged Water Technology to complete an erosion assessment along the foreshore. This is also considering the findings from the Marlo Drainage assessment which is being finalised by Water Technology. Water Technology will provide options for remediation works along the foreshore within the final report and this will support the prioritisation and further development of the project .
The toilet block design has been finalised (see attached document for final layout). Construction of the toilet block will not commence until after June 2023.
