Club Terrace - Community facility
The construction of the Club Terrace Community Facility was completed in March 2024.
Construction of this crucial community facility in Club Terrace is complete.
This development falls under the comprehensive East Gippsland Emergency Management Framework, identifying 37 community facilities across the municipality for necessary upgrades. The facility upgrades, funded in part by the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program, aim to empower communities to lead their recovery process. This includes increased asset resilience, improved communication systems, and building community capability and capacity for recovery.
The Club Terrace community actively participated in the design and functionality discussions, with notable figures like the Australian Governor General David Hurley and Major General Andrew Hocking of the National Bushfire Recovery Agency engaging with the community over the project's viability.
Ensuring that this facility is not only fit for purpose but also a hub that fosters community connectedness and resilience, the new building encompasses ember-proofing, adapting electrical switchboard systems for backup power supply, and upgrading telecommunication systems, including AV infrastructure, Wi-Fi, and resilient online connectivity. These enhancements aim to fortify the facility's resilience during bushfire events and ensure continuous operation during power outages, both in emergencies and non-emergencies.
These improvements are pivotal in providing a secure environment for our community, especially during emergencies. The completed project will serve as a multifunctional hub for the Club Terrace community, promoting social cohesion, physical activity, and community engagement. The facility will play a critical role in emergency planning, response, and recovery.
In conjunction with funding partners and key stakeholders, an opening celebration has been organised. The invitation to attend is open to everyone.
Funding for this project was provided by the Australian Government through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program and additional funding from East Gippsland Shire Council.
