The Cann River Skate Park redevelopment will see the aged and rusting facility replaced with a new and challenging skate park redesigned with input from local youth.

The current skate park at Cann River is the only formal recreational and sporting facility in the area of the Cann River township and as such, is particularly important for the wellbeing of young people.

The proposed outcome of the Cann River skate park redevelopment is:

  • to replace the existing, outdated skate park with a new, attractive, challenging and safe skate park that complements and supports the wider use of Mick Baum Park
  • to assist in the mental, social and physical wellbeing of the community, particularly to younger individuals, following the ongoing recovery of the Cann Valley community from bushfires and the additional impact of the COVID19 pandemic
  • to ensure the skate park is more attractive to visitors which is an important part of the Cann River economy.

This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.

The redevelopment of the Cann River Skatepark is now complete and open for public use.

As the only formal recreational and sporting facility within a 100km radius of the Cann River township, the redevelopment of the skate park was particularly important for the wellbeing of young people and will make Cann River more popular for overnight stays as well as encouraging a quick break.

It is obvious Grind Projects Pty Ltd have a passion for their trade which comes from many years' experiences from their background in skateboarding. Their work includes construction of high-quality concrete skateparks across Australia and the development and construction of our Bairnsdale and Mallacoota Skate Parks.

The Skatepark, along with the recently completed Cann River On Street Parking project complement each other and have brought the Mick Baum Park precinct to life with newly completed footpath connections, drainage improvements and landscaping. The improved facilities are already inviting more visitors to stay longer and spend as they pass through on the Princes and Monaro Highways, improving the Cann River economy.

We have also been informed the community have been very excited to see the redevelopment of the skatepark take place and provide locals and visitors to the area with excellent facilities.

We are proud to deliver this important project for the Cann River community and thank everyone involved in the project - those who supported the initial applications for funding through the Black Summer Bushfire recovery grants, to those involved in construction and project completion.
