New Toilet Facility at Gilsenan Reserve Now Complete

We are pleased to announce the completion of the new toilet facility at Gilsenan Reserve

Delivered by Design Co Builders, the project includes a DDA-compliant accessible toilet with baby change facility, an all-gender ambulant toilet, and a new accessible car parking space. The improvements have been designed to better meet the needs of the community and enhance the visitor experience.

The upgraded facility will support the many activities held at Gilsenan Reserve throughout the year, including the popular Paynesville Lions Community Market. By providing modern and convenient amenities, the upgrade will improve comfort for locals and visitors while encouraging ongoing use of this important community space.

Council thanks the community for its patience during the construction works and looks forward to seeing the new facility enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.

Works associated with the newly constructed public toilet amenities at Gilsenan Reserve will result in a minor disruption along Fleischer Street from 15 June 2026 to 23 June 2026.

During this period, one lane will be closed directly in front of the new facility. Access to properties and through the area will remain available at all times, with traffic able to move in and out as required. While some minor delays may occur, every effort has been made to minimise disruption.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while these works are completed and this important upgrade is delivered for everyone to enjoy.

Construction of the new public toilet facility at Gilsenan Reserve is progressing well, with Design Co Builders making good progress on site.

Since works commenced, the concrete slab has been poured and the structural steel frame installed. This is an important milestone, with the shape of the building now clearly visible.

Over the coming weeks, work will continue with wall framing, roofing and internal fit-out.

The project remains on track for completion within the planned timeframe.

The new facility will include:

• one accessible toilet with a baby change table
• one unisex toilet with ambulant-compliant fixtures
• one accessible parking space

Temporary traffic management and safety signage remain in place during construction. We ask all reserve users, visitors and event attendees to follow directions to help keep everyone safe.

We will continue to share updates as works progress and thank the community for your patience while these improvements are delivered.

Good progress is being made at Gilsenan Reserve, with key early works now complete and construction about to begin on the new toilet block.

Project update:

• Sewer connection works have been completed by Cal Civil
• All affected areas have been reinstated and are ready for the next stage
• Design Co Builders are scheduled to start on site from 27 April to begin construction of the new toilet block
• Minor works may occur outside the main site area to connect water and power services during construction
• A new crossover has been installed by Krammes Mini Earthmoving to improve access to the reserve. The crossover location was chosen in partnership with the Paynesville Lions Club to maintain safe access for community and reserve events

As part of the construction of the new public toilet block at Gilsenan Reserve, Paynesville, Cal Civil will be completing sewer connection works from 10–20 March 2026 (weather permitting).

These works will help deliver upgraded public facilities for the Paynesville community.

What to expect

• Temporary car park closures
  Up to three parking spaces near the Paynesville Service Centre will be closed during the works.

• Traffic management in place
  Traffic controls will operate at the Raymond Street and Fleischer Street intersection.

• Access maintained
  Fleischer Street will remain open, and access to the car park from Raymond Street will continue throughout the works.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete the upgrades. These works will help deliver improved public amenities for residents and visitors to Paynesville.

Final project details are currently being finalised.

A Request for Quote (RFQ) is being prepared and will be issued shortly to prospective contractors.

This project is currently in preliminary design development. Documentation will be available for viewing once design has progressed.
