The Nowa Nowa Foreshore Precinct offers a peaceful, scenic destination where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty, stretch their legs along wetlands and Sculpture Walk, or take part in activities like boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and swimming.

In recent years, flooding caused by the closure of Lake Tyers estuary’s ocean access has damaged infrastructure and reduced visitation impacting the local economy and community.

Conversations with community representatives have outlined priorities that would make a significant difference to the foreshore precinct. The project is exploring:

• Raising ground levels to reduce flooding and keep access open
• Connecting the foreshore to local businesses to support economic growth
• Enhancing public amenities with improved greenspace and picnic facilities
• Upgrading fishing and boating facilities, including relocating the boat ramp and adding a fish cleaning table

Developing the master plan builds on ideas from the Nowa Nowa Open Space Management Plan (2015) and the Nowa Nowa and District Community Plan (2012–2016). Recent conversations about replacing the deteriorated jetty have helped identify broader community priorities.
