What is the total cost of the project?

The estimated total project cost: $1,982,196

Will the footy or netball be impacted?

The project includes removal and replacement with new and improved netball/tennis courts as well as removal and replacement of the existing change rooms and social rooms. The construction stage will have some impact on use of the clubrooms for events and meetings, football and netball training and games during the 2022 and2023 seasons.  The Swifts Creek Football Netball Club and the Omeo District Football and Netball League are  represented on the Recreation Reserve’s Committee of Management and arrangements will be made in conjunction with them and other affected clubs and groups to minimise those impacts.

    How long will it take?

Concept design work is already underway and the estimated construction time for the pavilion could be as long as 12 months and the courts up to 4 months.

It is anticipated that construction could commence in the second half of 2022.

Who is the project funded by?

The project is funded by Bushfire Recovery Victoria. Swifts Creek Recreation Reserve Committee of Management applied for the funding.

    What works are being planned?

The project consists of two major components:

    •    Replacement of three existing buildings (changerooms, tennis clubroom and social room) with a single multipurpose facility

    •    Replacement of the existing netball court facility with a new competition compliant facility

During construction will the facilities be available in the case of an emergency, ie fire?

The oval and bowling facilities at the western end will still be available. The football/netball change rooms, social rooms and courts will not be available.
