We’re creating a new Public Art Policy and want your input on how public art reflects East Gippsland’s places and stories.

About the policy

East Gippsland Shire Council is developing its first Public Art Policy. This policy will guide how public art is supported, planned and delivered across the Shire over time.

Public art can take many forms and appears in many places from town centres and parks to community hubs and events. This project is about understanding what public art means to our communities, where it can have the greatest impact, and how people would like to see and experience it. Your feedback will help shape a clear, practical policy that reflects local places, stories and values.

We’re inviting the community to share their views through a short survey.

Council’s Public Art Policy Aims to:

  • Clarify how public art decisions are made

  • Support public art across different towns and places

  • Reflect local identity, stories and values

  • Guide future projects and investment

We will keep the communities informed about:

  • How communities feedback is being used
  • Updates on the progress of the policy
  • When the policy is finalised

Your feedback will help shape the direction and focus of the policy.

We want to understand:

  • What public art means to you
  • Where public art could make the biggest difference
  • How you like to experience and engage with public art
  • How you’d like to be kept informed or involved in the future

Your input will help ensure the policy reflects communities values and priorities.

We will:

  • Use the feedback to inform the policy purpose, principles and priorities
  • Consider what places, experiences and values matter most to the communities
  • Include a summary of engagement findings in the policy’s development

    We’re inviting you to share your thoughts through this short survey to help us understand what public art means to you, where it can make the biggest impact, and how you would like to experience it in your community. Your feedback will help shape a policy that reflects the voices and priorities of East Gippsland communities.

    East Gippsland Shire Council collects your information to seek feedback on the draft Public Art Policy. The information you provide will be used to ensure the Public Art Policy reflects community aspirations. This form allows you to submit your feedback anonymously; however, if you choose to include any personal information or refer to where you live, it may be possible to identify you given the specific nature of this initiative. Please note your feedback will be visible to Council staff and external consultants for the specific purpose of developing the Public Art Policy.
