Why is council undertaking this project?

    Council is undertaking this project to address key actions from the Paynesville Foreshore Management Plan adopted in 2017. 

    Is the project fully funded?

    The actions contained within the Progress Jetty Plan are not fully funded. Further funding will be sought from external sources. 

    What is currently funded?

    Council have budgeted $750,000 with $250,000 contributed from Council Cash and $500,000 from grants. 

    When will construction commence?

    Construction of the agreed works will commence once detailed design documentation is finalised and approved by East Gippsland Shire Counci and the Project Reference Group. 

    Construction will likely take place in the 23/24 financial year

    How is parking changing?

    The intent of the design is not to reduce the number of car parks but to reduce the amount of asphalt and hardscape throughout the foreshore. 

    What is the role of Gippsland Ports and the water zones?

    Gippsland Ports manage the berths in the vicinity of the project site.  Any changes proposed to the water zoning areas will be required to be reviewed according to Gippsland Ports regulatory processes. 

    Who will be doing the work?

    At this stage no tenders have been let for the project.

    What work will be included initially?

    The priority actions to address is the safety of crossing the Esplanade and the changes to the hardscaped areas. Once the hardscaping areas are complete this will enable the further development of the foreshore including the playgrounds.
