Trail works to start June 2026

Visitors to the Dinni Birraark Walk at Newlands Arm will soon enjoy a safer, more user friendly, and clearly defined trail, with works set to begin on upgrades to this important community trail.

We have awarded the construction contract to Cal Civil, with works scheduled to commence on 15 June 2026. Construction is expected to take approximately six weeks, weather permitting.

The upgrade will focus on a 372‑metre section of the trail between Backwater Court and Kellina Court in Paynesville. Works will include:

  • Creating a more well-defined and stable walking surface
  • Improving usability for a wide range of users
  • Ensuring the trail is easier to follow while minimising environmental impact

The project aims to enhance access while protecting the surrounding landscape for future generations.

In addition, a 60m section of rock beaching will be installed along the shoreline in the first section to assist stabilise the foreshore and protect against erosion.

During construction, machinery and work crews will be active along sections of the foreshore. For public safety, the section of trail between Backwater Court and Kellina Court will be temporarily closed for the duration of the works.

Community members are asked to:

  • Avoid entering the closed work area
  • Follow all on-site signage and directions
  • Take care when moving near adjacent areas

These temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of both the public and construction workers.

We thank the community for their patience and cooperation while these works are undertaken.
