Moving successfully through Council's internal approval processes we are pleased to be able to release a graphicly designed draft plan to community for review and allow for final feedback and finishing touches.

You can review the draft plan and provide feedback via email to placeplanning@egipps.vic.gov.au. Final feedback closes Friday 2 October 2026.

Place Planning team will be in community to support drop-in engagement opportunities to support this process.

Community are still being encouraged to share images of the district and the places, spaces and faces they value most with opportunities for some images to be used in the Final Plan.

The Place Planning team will attend the Benambra Community BBQ at 12 noon and then head to the Omeo Service Centre at 2.30pm. Staff will provide an update on the Place Plan progress, answer questions and support residents to connect with the project engagement tools.

Over the past six months, the Place Planning team has worked closely with the Omeo District community to develop the Place Plan.

By listening, reviewing data, conducting community surveys, and workshopping ideas, we’ve brought together the collective voice of the Omeo District to shape the Omeo District Place Plan.

Together, we’ve built a strong foundation and are now approaching the finish line.

Council's Mega stall will have something for everyone including kids activities, coloring-in competition and staff to share information about services and current projects.

Omeo District Roadshow – Your Opportunity to Connect and Have Your Say

Council is hosting the Omeo District Roadshow, giving residents a valuable opportunity to meet directly with staff from across the organisation, learn about current projects, and share feedback that will help shape the future of the district.

We understand your time is valuable. By bringing multiple projects and teams together in one place, the roadshow makes it easier for community members to ask questions, understand what’s happening in their area, and provide input that will help guide future planning.

At these sessions you can find out more about the Omeo District Place Plan, Omeo Structure Plan and Stormwater Management Plan, and speak directly with the teams involved. Staff from Emergency Management and Economic Development will also be available for a chat about local priorities and opportunities.

This roadshow provides a simple and accessible way to connect with Council staff, learn about several important projects at once, and make sure your voice is part of shaping the future of the Omeo district.

We’re excited to share your community’s collective draft of the Omeo District Place Plan. This draft reflects what you’ve told us matters most, and it will form the basis of Stage 2 of the consultation, where we’ll work together to shape the final elements of the Plan.

We had planned to begin Stage 2 consultation in mid-February; however, due to recent bushfire activity, we’ve been asked to delay the process to allow our community partners time to settle and adjust their schedules.

Once confirmed, consultation dates and times will be advertised here on Yoursay Omeo District Place Plan page, through other Council media, community newsletters, and local network communication channels with the help of our valued partners and community members.

With the closing of the online survey, the first stage of our community consultation has now come to an end. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the development of the Place Plan so far. We have received many thoughtful responses and valuable feedback from across the district.

Community members engaged with us through workshops, online platforms and surveys. Workshops were held in Tambo Crossing, Swifts Creek, Omeo and Benambra. The team also attended community events and activities, including the Omeo Show, where we were able to hear more from young people, families and visitors to the area. We were fortunate to align this work with recent project and program engagement, such as Listening to the Voices of Children and Young People and the Mayor for a Day activity delivered by Uniting, Communities for Children and Council. This helped ensure that relevant consultations are reflected in the development of the Plan.

We have had 486 participants visit the Place Plan website, with 85 submissions and 52 downloads. From the website data alone, we can see that 304 visitors were ‘aware’, 131 were ‘informed’ and 70 were ‘engaged’.

We are now collating all responses into the draft Place Plan. This preparation will take some time to ensure the draft meets both community and Council expectations. With the Christmas holiday period fast approaching and in recognition of the time needed by our community partners who are supporting the review process we expect to share a Draft Place Plan with the community in February 2026.
