This project is now complete

Council has allocated funds for the replacement of the public toilet at Chinaman's Creek in Metung. The area is often used as a stop point for tourists and long vehicles, and the extension of the Metung boardwalk has seen an increase in use. The existing toilet is aged and with an increase in use, is no longer fit for purpose. The toilet block will be demolished and a new 2-unit accessible friendly facility, which includes baby change tables will be constructed.

The works will be undertaken by Council's Works team.

The upgrade of the turnaround area will be completed if budget allows, however the priority of this project is the completion of the new toilet block.

Funding for this project was provided by East Gippsland Shire Council.

    Asphalt works were completed in August 2023 to improve carparking at the Chinamans Creek rest stop.

    The upgrade from the previous gravel road has made a significant improvement to the area, making it more accessible for people of all generations and needs.

    The carpark works mark the completion of this project.

    The new public toilet was opened prior to Christmas 2022.

    The toilet block is fitted with baby change tables.

    Council is scheduling the upgrade of the Rest Stop to commence end of February 2023. This will allow the area to remain open for public use during the peak season.

    Council is pleased to advise that the new public toilet at Chinaman's Creek in Metung is scheduled to open prior to the 2022/23 Christmas holidays. The old toilet block was demolished and a new two-unit accessible friendly facility, which includes baby change tables has been constructed.
