Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival – Marine and Coastal Consent application

We’re inviting community feedback on Council’s proposal to continue hosting the Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival in its current location on the foreshore east of the footbridge from the 2026–27 summer season until the 2032–33 summer season.

We’d also like to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the carnival’s layout and design, the types of activities and experiences offered, the timing and duration of the event and any accessibility features that would help make the event more enjoyable for everyone.

The Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival is a vibrant and popular annual seasonal attraction that provides family-friendly entertainment to residents and visitors in one of Gippsland’s premier holiday destinations during the peak summer holiday period.

The carnival offers amusement rides, food and drink stalls, accessible rides and facilities, family-friendly pricing and diverse entertainment options, while supporting local businesses.

The carnival is currently held from 23 December until 26 January and is open each day from 6pm to 11pm.

Community consultation

Your feedback will help inform our application process and identify ways we can improve the carnival experience in the future.

Council is committed to working collaboratively with Traditional Owners, stakeholders, and the community to ensure the event reflects shared values, respects cultural heritage and incorporates community feedback.

Our commitment to you: inform to consult – we’ll keep you in the loop and make sure your voice is heard. We’ll share updates, listen to your ideas and feedback, and use what you tell us to help shape the future of the carnival. Once decisions are made, we’ll let you know how your input made a difference.

You can provide your feedback by:
