FAQs
Why is Council undertaking this project?
Council is undertaking this road upgrade to improve pedestrian safety, address road maintenance issues and improve drainage infrastructure. This project seeks to revitalise Roadknight Street for the benefit of local community and businesses operating within Myer St intersection to Coates Road.
This project is a response to the community's call for safer and more accessible walking and cycling options. By creating a safe crossing and dedicated bike lane, the project aims to make these travel modes more appealing and encourage a healthier, more sustainable transportation network in the area.
Council allocated budget for the investigation and design of Roadknight Street in the FY 2024/25 capital works urban road improvement program.
Is the new Footpath Disability Friendly?
The new footpath will be wheelchair friendly with compliant width and footpath access.
Previous feedback regarding the unsafe pedestrian footpath has been considered and design will ensure safe pedestrian movement and necessary footpath access to business, properties, and road crossing.
What happened to driveways and commercial access?
Efforts will be made to minimise disruptions to driveway access. If damage occurs to the driveway due to the construction of drainage infrastructure or footpaths, it will be reconstructed to its original condition.
Commercial access and delivery points will be taken into consideration and will remain operational during construction.
Is there any impact on off-street parking?
There will be no loss of parking bays along Roadknight street. While every effort will be made to minimise disruptions to off-street parking availability, there may be some minor interruptions during construction with limited access those parking bays.
All interruptions will be clearly communicated via traffic management signage prior to commencement. Your cooperation and patience are appreciated while we work to achieve formalised parking that will benefit community.
Updates about the traffic management plan will be informed to directly impacted personnel in a timely manner.
When will construction commence?
Construction will commence once detailed design documentation is finalised and approved by Council.
Construction may occur in the 2025/26 financial year and is subject to future funding allocation.
