Concept Design Submitted
Our engineering consultant has submitted a concept bridge design for the project. The design has been developed with a strong focus on minimising impacts on surrounding flora and fauna, particularly within the creek corridor and adjacent vegetation.
Design review underway
The proposed concept design is now under review to ensure it complies with all relevant requirements, including:
- Australian Standards
- Infrastructure Delivery Management (IDM) requirements
- Austroads specifications
This review process helps ensure the bridge is safe, durable, and fit for purpose, while also meeting regulatory and best‑practice standards.
Environmental information incorporated
An ecological mapping assessment prepared by Ecologic‑NRM has been provided to the design consultant. This map identifies the presence of the EPBC‑listed, critically endangered River‑flat Eucalypt Forest ecological community in the project area.
Importantly, Mississippi Creek represents the western‑ and southern‑most extent of this threatened ecological community in East Gippsland. This information is being carefully considered during the design review to ensure impacts on this environment are avoided or minimised wherever possible.
What happens next
- Council engineers and project specialists will continue reviewing the concept design
- Environmental constraints will be factored into any refinements
- Further updates will be shared as the project progresses
Community updates will continue to be published on YourSay East Gippsland as key milestones are reached. Please follow this project to get updates directly to your inbox.
