Weโ€™ve heard it loud and clear from our community โ€“ more shade and better weather protection are top priorities. And weโ€™re delivering!
As part of the Krauatungalung Walk project, weโ€™re installing five new shade structures to improve comfort and accessibility in key recreational areas in Lakes Entrance.
Works started today 25 August 2025 and are expected to take around four weeks (weather permitting)
Safety first: The site will be fenced during construction
Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s planned:
  • 3 shade structures near the Lakes Entrance Surf Lifesaving Club, replacing the old shelters with new ones that offer protection from sun and rain, plus accessible picnic settings and pathway upgrades
  • 2 shade structures in the Foreshore Park playground โ€“ providing much-needed cover for families during hot or wet days, also with accessible picnic settings.
These improvements will make our public spaces more enjoyable year-round. Thanks to everyone who continues to share feedback โ€“ it helps shape projects like this!

Consultation has concluded.

The Lakes Entrance community came together on Saturday 1 February as a 70-strong crowd of locals, business owners and project contributors - including artists and developers - celebrated the official opening of three major foreshore projects: Krauatungalung Walk Stage 1, Lakes Foreshore Park and Lakes Entrance Water Sports Pavilion.

With a total investment of more than $3.5 million, these initiatives are designed to enhance the town's appeal for tourists while also enriching community spaces.

The projects have been delivered in partnership with the Australian Government; the Victorian Government (Lakes Entrance Foreshore Park funding from its 2020-2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund); the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC); and local contractors.

These additions to the Lakes Entrance foreshore provide long-term benefits, foster greater inclusivity, accessibility, and tourism opportunities, providing an economic boost for the town and region.
