Lakes Entrance - Apex Park boat ramp car park concept design

About the project

The need to upgrade the Apex Park boat ramp and improve the existing car park facilities was identified during community engagement undertaken for Marine Parade Upgrade. Council has developed a draft concept plan which is now available for community consultation.

Objective and scope

The project area extends across the existing car park, and will include:

  • dedicated disabled parking bays in close proximity to the boat ramp and public toilets.
  • installation of a dedicated fish cleaning station in close proximity to the boat ramp.
  • formalised footpaths and parking bays, and informal overflow parking spaces.

Consultation and community engagement

Feedback on the concept plan is now welcome.

Please take 5 minutes to participate in the SURVEY. All feedback provided is important and will be used to shape changes to the concept design before going to detail design.

The survey has been extended to 31 December 2024.

The project information sheet, concept plan, and the survey can be downloaded from the documents section.

Funding

Construction is subject to future funding availability. Design and construction of the Apex Park boat ramp car park does not form part of the work being undertaken on Marine Parade.

Project updates will be provided in the tab below, when available.

Council contractors will be installing a new Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) compliant gangway and pontoon at the Apex Park Boat Ramp on North Arm in Lakes Entrance from 12 February 2024.

The new all-accessible gangway and pontoon will provide improved facilities for everyone to enjoy waterfront activities, promoting inclusivity, fostering community engagement, and potentially boosting local tourism.

The installation is anticipated to take approximately one week, weather permitting. Access to the water will remain available, as only one boat lane will be closed at a time during the works.

Users of the popular boat ramp are asked to observe the construction signage and any directions from the contractor, including following traffic management direction in the precinct during the works.

The survey closing date has been extended to midnight on 31 December 2024.

We want the concept design to reflect the interests of the community. This includes our residents, businesses, visitors, workforce, rightsholders and other stakeholders. To help us make informed decisions, it's important to understand what the community likes about the concept plan, and where there might be concerns or challenges.

Whether you’re a resident, visitor, or regular user of this area, we want to hear from you!

This survey includes general questions about the participant (i.e. location and age bracket) to give an indication of the audience reached. The personal information provided will only be used for the purpose for which it was intended and will not be disclosed to other people or organisations without your prior written consent, or where it is required by law.

Survey results will be used to shape any changes to the concept design before going to detail design.
