Skidale Reserve, located adjacent to Lake Tyers Beach Tavern and foreshore, was identified for an upgrade as part of a broader community improvement initiative within the township of Lakes Tyers Beach.

This project aims to enhance the reserve with -

  • New seating and picnic settings.
  • Updated play equipment.
  • Landscaping and lighting

The upgraded amenity will complement the existing natural environment of the park and celebrate the views to the ocean and beach.

We’ve been listening

Community engagement was conducted in 2021 to gather feedback on priorities, desired features, and concerns regarding the proposed upgrade, ensuring the design reflects community needs and enhances recreational opportunities while preserving the natural environment. Overall, participants expressed strong support for improved amenities, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

In response to community feedback, we’ve revisited the original concept plan and made some changes to make Skidale Reserve more welcoming for families, visitors, and locals.

The updated design focuses on improving the primary amenity areas, including the terraced BBQ and picnic areas to better serve the local community and visitors.

πŸ’‘ The 2025 concept design is available for you to view here.

What’s next?

Funding for construction of the primary amenity elements is secured, and we plan to commence these works in 2026.

Construction of the additional elements is subject to funding availability.

Funding

These activities are funded by the East Gippsland Shire Council.
