Updating our Community Engagement Policy

Engagement contributes to better outcomes for the community and builds trust in Council’s decision-making process.

We are updating our Community Engagement Policy, which guides the way we seek and act on community input into the work the Council delivers - from services and community facilities to capital projects.

Now we’re seeking your feedback to help shape the final policy and learn more about how you would like to participate in future Council decision-making processes.

Our commitment - to inform and consult: We will keep you informed, listen to your feedback and ideas and use these to inform the final policy. We will tell you how your input influenced the decision.

Community Engagement Policy

Community influence has a positive impact on what Council delivers. That’s why it’s important to have a framework that provides opportunities for residents, visitors, businesses and groups to have their say.

The Community Engagement Policy sets out our commitment to how we keep our communities informed about what we're doing, how they can participate and how their feedback will influence council decisions.

It includes our engagement principles, as well as the different levels of engagement we will use to connect with our communities to give them a voice in our decision-making processes.

How to get involved

We want to hear your thoughts about the draft Community Engagement Policy including our engagement objectives, how we engage, and the way we report back to the community about our engagement activities.

The IAP2 spectrum of engagement is a consistent and best-practice approach - this part of the policy cannot be changed.

You can provide your feedback by viewing the draft Community Engagement Policy and completing a brief survey. You can also submit your response in writing or head to one of our information sessions - more information including dates, time and locations can be found here.

➡️ We want your input 💬

We encourage you to read the FAQs and submit feedback via:
