Council have carried out maintenance activities on roads across East Gippsland and identified four sealed roads requiring significant upgrades.

The four roads identified for renewal are:

  • Howitt Avenue, Bairnsdale
  • Omeo Valley Road, Benambra
  • Bung Bung Lane, Benambra
  • Limestone Road, Benambra

Renewal of these roads is required. Council is in the process of developing road design to mitigate further maintenance activities relating to erosion and sediment control and implement protective treatment where necessary to achieve resilient infrastructure and minimise flood impacts on road infrastructure.

Objective and scope

Investigations will be done to understand the condition of these roads. Outcomes of the investigations will be used to design the best value upgrade works for each of the four roads to achieve resilient infrastructure and minimise future flood damage occurring.
