We’re working towards a more open, accessible and year-round approach to gathering feedback to inform our annual budget.

This page gives you the opportunity to share your ideas, feedback and priorities at any time, helping Council better understand what matters most to our community. Whether it’s maintaining essential services, improving local facilities or investing in new initiatives, your insights will help inform our annual budget and longer-term planning.

By contributing, you’re helping ensure Council’s decisions are informed, transparent and aligned with our Community Vision—supporting a resilient, connected and thriving East Gippsland now and into the future.

Help shape future Council budgets

Your ideas and feedback are shared directly with the relevant Council teams and play an important role in shaping both our annual budget and long-term planning.

Budget development is a complex process, and your input helps us better understand community priorities and make balanced, informed decisions. We consider your feedback alongside a range of important factors, including:

  • alignment with Council’s plans, policies and adopted strategies
  • maintaining and delivering essential community services
  • caring for and renewing our existing infrastructure and assets
  • planning for new projects, facilities and initiatives that support our communities
  • responding to economic conditions and financial sustainability

By contributing, you’re helping ensure Council’s investment decisions are transparent, responsible and aligned with what matters most to East Gippsland communities.

  • Completing an online survey
  • In-person at any of our service centres and libraries (hard copy or online)
  • Email feedback@egipps.vic.gov.au

Key dates

  • Feedback received until 31 December 2026 will be used to inform the 2027/28 budget.
  • Feedback received from 1 January 2027 onwards will inform future budgets.
  • Community consultation on the 2026/27 budget closed on 9 March 2026.

    We’d like to hear your feedback and ideas about the Council projects and services that matter most to you to help us shape future Council budgets and plan for projects.

    COLLECTION NOTICE: East Gippsland Shire Council collects your information to seek feedback on the Council Budget. The information you provide will be used to inform the Council Budget development process. The survey allows you to submit your feedback anonymously; however, if you choose to include any personal information, or make reference to where you live, it may be possible to identify you. Please note your feedback will be visible to Council staff for the specific purpose of developing the Council Budget. Words provided in your feedback will not be used or repeated in any public communications or reporting.

    This survey includes general questions about the participant (i.e. location and age bracket) to give an indication of the audience reached. The personal information provided will only be used for the purpose for which it was intended and will not be disclosed to other people or organisations without your prior written consent, or where it is required by law. Survey results will be used to shape the Council Budget.
