What is the purpose of the commercial licence?
The proposal is to moor a 12-metre sailing catamaran at the site which will offer guided sailing experiences along the Snowy River estuary and surrounding waterways.
How often will be the vessel be moored at this site?
The vessel will be moored when it is not being used for the guided sailing experiences – longer period of time during the winter months.
Will this mooring affect the use of the recreational fishing platform?
The mooring is not expected to interfere with the use of the recreational fishing platform. The vessel will be moored to the east of the fishing platform, ensuring the area remains open for recreational fishing.
Will the mooring affect access to the boat ramp or fishing platform?
No, the mooring will not impact access to the boat ramp or fishing platform. These areas will remain open for public use. However, there may be brief delays during commercial passenger pick-up or drop-off at the nearby public jetty.
Is the infrastructure safe to moor a vessel of this size?
It is the responsibility of the licensee to ensure that the mooring poles are capable of safely mooring a vessel of this size prior to the licence being issued.
When moored, will the vessel protrude into the navigational waterway?
As the width of the vessel is 6 metres, and will be moored parallel to the bank, it will not protrude into the navigational waterway.
What is the benefit to the community of Marlo to have a commercial licence at this site.
The project presents an opportunity to introduce estuary-based charter and cruise services that highlight the natural beauty of Marlo and its surrounding waterways. The project is expected to deliver economic benefits to the local community through increased visitation, job creation and diversifying the region’s tourism offering.
