Community engagement – our commitment to you

    Community Engagement Policy

Community influence has a positive impact on what the council delivers. That’s why it’s important to have a framework that provides opportunities for residents, visitors, businesses and groups to have their say.

The Community Engagement Policy sets-out our commitment to how we keep our communities informed about what we're doing, how they can participate and how their feedback will influence Council decisions.

It includes our engagement principles, as well as the different levels of engagement we will use to connect with our communities to give them a voice in our decision-making processes.

    Our commitment for this project:

We will keep you informed, consider your feedback, and respond to your enquiries.

Why is Council undertaking this project?

We are undertaking this project to expand on completed works as part of the amended Bullock Island Masterplan adopted in 2020.

    Is the project funded?

Activities are not yet funded; funding will be sought from external sources when available. Application for grant funding can be submitted once detailed design plans are finalised.

    What is a concept design?

A concept design is an early-stage visual and strategic representation of a proposed project. It outlines stakeholder key ideas, layout, grant key indicators and features to help stakeholders understand the overall vision.

Will the final project look different from the concept design?

The final design of a project may vary from the initial concept design for several reasons. Some common reasons include technical constraints, statutory standard requirements, geological conditions, regulatory requirements, budgetary considerations, stakeholder feedback, and evolving needs and preferences. Adapting plans to changing circumstances ensures the final product remains relevant and functional.

We will notify you of any significant changes and explain the reasons behind them.

We appreciate your understanding that the final design may differ from the concept. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

    When will construction commence?

The commencement of construction is subject to future funding applications pending grant availability.

What happens to my feedback / comments?

All comments, ideas and suggestions are collated and used by the relevant project officer to inform the development of project, and gain insight into community views and opinions.

When consultation closes, all feedback is compiled by the Project Manager and considered; however, this does not mean that every suggestion will be accommodated.
