In 2024, Bullock Island was transformed into a vibrant recreational destination, offering a unique experience that celebrates its stunning location near the entrance to Bass Strait and the natural beauty of Lakes Entrance.

Thanks to your input and support, Bullock Island now features accessible boardwalks and shared pathways, picnic areas, new street furniture, solar lighting, formalised car parking, public toilets, vibrant artworks, and signage.

This major attraction for tourists and locals has hosted thousands of visitors since completion of the upgrade.

We’ve been listening!

We’re building on the great work already done. In response to what we heard from the community and visitors, we’ve revisited the original masterplan to consider further amenities including more shade and shelter with minimal impact on views, to make Bullock Island even more welcoming for families, visitors, and locals.

What's next?

A concept design has been developed. Responding to feedback, this early-stage visual representation of the proposed project outlines key ideas, layout, and features to help you understand the overall vision.

The concept design includes:

  • Shelters with picnic settings and BBQs
  • Additional pathways
  • More street furniture
  • A fish cleaning facility
  • Native trees and groundcovers
  • Additional signage

These improvements will help boost the visitor economy in Lakes Entrance and the wider region – and it’s all thanks to your continued involvement.

Funding

These activities are not yet funded. Grant applications will be submitted once detailed design plans are complete. Construction will begin only if future funding becomes available.
