Nowa Nowa - Boat Ramp facility upgrade

The Nowa Nowa boat ramp facility is located on the southern edge of the Nowa Nowa township adjacent to Lake Tyers and the lower reaches of Boggy Creek. It provides for all boating activities, and services Nowa Nowa and Lakes Entrance residents and visitors.

Prolonged periods of high water when the entrance at Lake Tyers is closed, causes the existing jetty to become submerged, rendering it unsafe and inaccessible for many months.

The jetty is reaching the end of its lifespan and is in urgent need of replacement. The community has also expressed a strong need for lighting at the boat ramp as evidenced in the Nowa Nowa Open Space Management Plan 2015.

This project will replace the existing jetty at the boat ramp with a floating pontoon, allowing access to the waterway during high tide and periods of high water. A single solar light will be installed near the jetty to aid in boat preparation and launching/retrieving vessels during low light.

A contract has been awarded for the detailed design and supply of pontoon jetty components. Construction commenced end May with targeted completion by the end of June, weather permitting.
