Consultation has concluded

Council is leading the development of a new four-year municipal health and wellbeing plan, ‘Well placed for Wellbeing 2021-25’. The aim of this plan is to improve the health and wellbeing of all East Gippsland communities.

A framework was released in December 2021 and the full draft plan is now open for final public comment before seeking Council endorsement in April.

Working with our health partners and communities, five priority areas have been identified and strategic objectives for each included.

Various forums have been held across the plan's development including;

  • Public consultations
  • Key stakeholder forums
  • Facilitated working groups
  • Direct community group and network engagement.

Good health and wellbeing is important. It enables people to participate fully in community life and is essential for a strong economy.

Over 1000 people have been part of the plans development thus far and we are now asking Do we have it Right?

  • Conversations with our health partners and communities have identified five priority outcomes that must be included in the Well placed for Wellbeing 2021-25 plan.  These are:

    • Liveable
    • Healthy and well
    • Safe and secure
    • Connected to culture and community
    • Able to participate

Strategic objectives under each priority outcome have been drafted.

It is important to note that the draft plan takes into consideration and incorporates

    • A partnership approach to delivery with clear roles for Council and health partners
    • Priorities and actions identified by stakeholders and the community (“Top 10 most important health and wellbeing priorities…”)
    • The need to change the way we work – remove the ‘business as usual’ to ensure a targeted plan
    • Our communities and stakeholders are:
      • at various stages of recovery
      • fatigued but committed – must work at their pace
      • Resources required – annual action plans and reviews
      • Health and wellbeing at ‘heart of what Council does’ and will be integrated into the Council Plan in the future
