Social and Affordable Housing
Consultation has concluded
Provision of social housing is a critical issue in East Gippsland and we are proposing to make land available for development for this purpose as our contribution in response to this issue.
We propose to sell two properties by a targeted expression of interest process with relevant organisations who can develop social and affordable housing. If an agreement is reached, we would anticipate partnering with a community housing organisation to develop and manage each site.
The properties identified as potentially suitable for this type of development are:

Any development of the site/s is likely to be subject to a planning approval and so there would be an opportunity to provide feedback on the specific development at that time.
What we are doing
- We are writing to all nearby landowners surrounding both properties seeing feedback
- The broader community can provide feedback on both or either option
- Feedback is open until 2 August 2024
- All feedback will be provided to Council for consideration to inform any decision
- Anyone who provides feedback, accompanied by a name and contact details will be advised individually of Council's outcome and next steps.
