Funding agreement finalised
On Thursday 6 April, Mayor Mark Reeves and council officers accompanied the Hon Kristy McBain, Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and the Territories to the Sarsfield Recreation Reserve to meet with community representatives. Minister McBain was pleased to announce that the funding agreement to deliver $3.6 million has been finalised
Community consultation workshops held on site
Approximately 80 people attended the two community workshops held in July, where they were asked to 'stick dots' to provide feedback and share their idea's with 'post-it' notes. While not all attendees voted, most engaged with the community plans and ideas. Community consultation closed on Friday 25 August 2023.
Project Reference Group was established to help progress the detail design.
Contract for construction awarded to Brooker Builders Pty Ltd at the 15 April 2025 Council meeting
Demolition of the existing Sarsfield Hall
In June 2025, the builder erected site fencing and began demolition of the existing Sarsfield Hall. This marks a major step forward in transforming the reserve into a modern, inclusive space for the community.
The removal of the ageing hall paves the way for construction of the new multi-purpose community centre
site set-out completed
At the start of July 2025, the site set-out was successfully completed. This important step involved marking out the exact location and layout of the new facilities, ensuring everything is positioned correctly before construction progresses.
With the site now prepared, the project has moved into the pre-slab works phase, bringing us closer to seeing the new community centre and upgraded amenities take shape.
