Draft - Road Safety Strategy 2023-2028

East Gippsland Shire Council is updating its Road Safety Strategy and is seeking community input from all road users.

The review and updating of the existing strategy will look at areas for improvement and changes to create a new document that is more in line with not only community values but those of other road managers and road safety initiatives. This will support Council working with other road managers and all road users towards the Victorian strategy of “toward zero” (fatalities) on our roads.

As a road manager for a significant geographical area of East Gippsland this document will outline how Council approaches road construction, project planning and the use of the most current best practices with respect to road user safety.

This new document will include:

• Current crash history data for our region.
• The role Council plays in the greater strategy of toward zero.
• Council’s targets and what we do as a community to help achieve this.
• Council’s action plan to help achieve a reduction in road trauma across East Gippsland.

The new Road Safety Strategy will be launched in 2023

The development of the new strategy is supported by a grant from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Draft Road Safety Strategy - Community Consultation

This is the final community engagement for the Draft - Road Safety Strategy 2023-2028. The survey aims to identify any areas that have not been captured so far and provide general feedback on the documents focus.

The survey includes questions about the draft document, general questions about the participant, gender, postcode and age to give in indication of the audience reached. It only takes a few minutes and no personal information will be recorded or retained.

Survey results will be used to shape any changes to the final draft before going before council for adoption.
