Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Management Plan?
A Management Plan is a document that details the vision and directives to manage, protect and enhance a site-specific landscape environment.
The plan provides guidance on how this unique area of land should be protected, celebrated, and enjoyed now and in the future.
Why is Council undertaking this project?
The foreshore is a highly valued passive recreational space that contributes significantly to East Gippsland’s amenity and visitor experience. Council also acknowledges the significant environmental value and sensitivity of the foreshore, in particular in this location.
An evidence-based approach to management is required, and all residents and stakeholders must be given the information required to support proposed management strategies.
This project embodies one of Council’s General Design Principles for Raymond Island as described in the Raymond Island Urban Design Framework developed in 2007: to Manage the foreshore to ensure environmental protection, preserve landscape quality and facilitate community access.
