The mitigation options identified through the drainage investigations have now been considered by Council as part of the ongoing work to address flooding issues across Raymond Island.
What’s happening now
Council has engaged consultants to undertake further desktop assessments of the proposed mitigation options, to help assess the options and their potential effectiveness in improving the island’s drainage system.
Council has also engaged consultants to undertake ecological assessments and studies to better understand the potential environmental impacts of the proposed mitigation measures.
What’s happening next
The outcomes of the engineering and ecological assessments will help Council determine the most suitable approach for improving stormwater quality, drainage performance and the overall resilience of the drainage network.
This additional assessment is an important step in ensuring that any future drainage improvements are practical, effective and consider the environmental characteristics of Raymond Island.
