This project is now complete.
The AJ Freeman Reserve Cricket Net Upgrades were completed on Tuesday 9 August 2023.
About the Project
Council have received funding from Sport and Recreation Victoria to upgrade the existing cricket nets at the AJ Freeman Reserve in Paynesville. The existing infrastructure is aged, which creates potential hazards for the users of this facility. The project involves the removal of the existing cricket nets and the development of a three wicket cricket net facility, with soft netting on the interior including the roof and chain wire mesh on the exterior perimeter.
The proposed outcome of the AJ Freeman Cricket Net upgrade is to:
Remove and replace the existing aged and dilapidated infrastructure
Improve the training facilities and participation outcomes for the Paynesville cricket club and the wider Paynesville community
Develop the participation of more people in outdoor activities by adopting Cricket Australia guidelines for outdoor cricket training facilities
Reduce hazards for net users
Benefit the people and user groups of Paynesville and the surrounding areas.
Budget
This project is funded through Sport and Recreation Victoria, with a substantial contribution from the Paynesville Cricket Club.
