Project Update 11/05/2023

The new Omeo netball courts are complete and now in use. Some minor items are currently being finished off.

The netball courts at the Omeo Recreation Reserve needed an upgrade. The courts were deemed to be unsafe, with exposed expansion joints and water running onto the playing surface in rain events.

Netball Victoria issued an exemption for the 2021 season, however, future competitions at the site were in jeopardy, due to the condition of the courts.

The project to construct new courts included;

  • Reconstruction of netball court pavements,
  • drainage improvements,
  • new perimeter fence,
  • new player and scorer shelters,
  • new secure equipment storage area,
  • new concrete pedestrian path,
  • new spectator facilities
  • lighting to Netball Australia training standards (100 Lux).

These new netball courts will support the community's physical and mental well-being, in enabling people to participate in physical activity and reconnecting as a community in the structured environment of organised team sports.

The upgrades to the Omeo Netball and Tennis Courts were completed in December 2023.
