Local Law review - stage one survey

We want to hear about your experiences, concerns and ideas for improving East Gippsland's Local Law. Whether you're a resident, business owner, visitor or community group member, your feedback will help us understand what is working well, what challenges the community faces, and what priorities should be considered as part of the review.
Please complete the survey and help shape clear, practical and effective local law that support a safe, accessible and thriving East Gippsland.

This survey should take around 5–10 minutes to complete.

Survey closes at 12pm Friday 2 October 2026.

COLLECTION NOTICE: East Gippsland Shire Council collects your information to seek feedback on its Local Laws Review. The information you provide will be used to inform the outcomes and to help Council learn more about how its community would like to participate in future Council decision-making processes. The survey allows you to submit your feedback anonymously; however, if you choose to include any personal information, or make reference to where you live, it may be possible to identify you given the specific nature of this project. Please note your feedback will be visible to Council staff for the specific purpose of developing the Local Laws. Words provided in your feedback will not be used or repeated in any public communications or reporting.

This survey includes general questions about the participant (i.e. location and age bracket) to give an indication of the audience reached. The personal information provided will only be used for the purpose for which it was intended and will not be disclosed to other people or organisations without your prior written consent, or where it is required by law. Survey results will be used to shape any changes to the Local Laws Review.

Community events and activities - Requirements for events, festivals and community activities on council owned land.

Community facilities and public places - Use of council owned land for events and community activities, behavior and amenity issues in parks, reserves and recreation areas, alcohol consumption in public spaces.

Animals - Keeping livestock in residential and rural areas, dog waste in public areas, dog management in public places including beaches, foreshores and reserves.

Roads, parking and public spaces - Vehicle use and storage impacts, including boats, caravans, trailers, heavy and recreational vehicles, and damage or safety issues affecting roads, footpaths, public spaces and assets.
