Revocation of Local Law No.1 Procedures for Council meetings

Council invites written submissions on the revocation of Local Law No. 1 Procedures for Council Meetings.

The Local Government Act 2020 (Act) requires Councils to prepare, adopt and maintain Governance Rules for the conduct of Council and Delegated Committee meetings. Under the Act the Governance Rules will replace Local Law No 1 Procedures for Council meetings.

Any person may make a written submission on the revocation of Local Law 1 under section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.

Submissions must be received by 5.00 pm on Thursday 6 August 2020 at the Corporate Centre, 273 Main Street, Bairnsdale; or emailed to feedback@egipps.vic.gov.au or mailed to PO Box 1618, Bairnsdale, 3875.

A person who has made a written submission and who wishes to be heard in support of it must indicate this in their submission. They will be entitled to present or be represented by a person identified in their submission as acting on their behalf before the virtual meeting of the Committee of Council convened to hear submissions on this matter.

In line with the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020 which amended the Local Government Act 2020, Council is conducting virtual meetings and members of the public are not permitted to attend in person.

The virtual meeting to hear section 223 submissions on this matter will take place at 1.30 pm on Tuesday 18 August 2020 at the Corporate Centre and will be livestreamed. Presenters will be contacted regarding details for the virtual meeting.

All submissions will be available for public inspection.
