Why is Council submitting an application to operate the Lakes Entrance Carnival in its current location?

Council is submitting an application to the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action for a Marine and Coastal Consent to allow the Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival to continue in its current location on the foreshore east of the footbridge from the 2026–27 summer season until the 2032–33 summer season.

All use, development and works on marine and coastal Crown land by any party requires consent under the Marine and Coastal Act 2018.

Securing long-term approval will help us with forward planning and infrastructure investment, and ensure the carnival remains enjoyable, safe, and beneficial for the community and visitors.

What are the current operating hours and dates of the Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival?

The carnival is currently held from 23 December 2025 until 26 January 2026 and is open each day from 6pm  to 11pm.
