Lakes Entrance Foreshore Park is an open reserve located on the north side of Cunninghame Arm, in close proximity to the Esplanade and the town centre. The park is bounded by shared paths in the east and south providing connections along the foreshore as well as to Ninety Mile Beach via the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the site. There is a large car park to the north and a rotunda to the east within the Esplanade Reserve.

Lakes Entrance Foreshore Park has been identified as requiring development for improved recreation use, including the provision of a playground, pathways, and landscaping.

The project seeks to create a location where young people of all abilities are able to play and recreate in a safe, enjoyable, and challenging environment that inspires creativity and encourages physical activity.

The park will also link-in with Krauatungalung Walk Stage-1. A gathering space for Krauatungalung Walk will be provided within the foreshore area.

The park will include several elements including water-play and nature-play, with equipment specifically designed for younger children. It will also incorporate universal play elements.

Community Consultation 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the community consultation for the Lakes Entrance Foreshore Park development in May to June 2022. We’ve listened to your feedback from the survey responses and in person sessions to discuss the ideas on the initial concept plans. 

We’ve used your feedback and ideas to shape the development of a Revised Preliminary Concept Plan. We’ve also responded to your feedback to let you know the reasons behind the decisions made and why certain aspects can or can’t be included.

A Project Reference Group (PRG) was established on a voluntary basis to provide a representative viewpoint on the design options and was included in communications of detailed design. 

Specifically, the PRG assisted by:

• Providing input, advice and recommendations to the Project Control Group;
• Reviewed and commented on draft project documents;
• Ensured the views and interests of their organisation/interest group and the community are represented, and that relevant stakeholders are engaged;
• Provided an active and positive contribution to the project;
• Championed the project within the community;
• Helped achieve community participation;

The project budget is comprised of contributions from the Australian Government, the Victorian Government, and East Gippsland Shire Council.
