Localised flood investigations and drainage improvements will be conducted near the intersection of Eastern Beach Road and Cunningham Street in Lakes Entrance following concerns raised by local residents.

A consultant has been engaged to assist Council in understanding why the flooding is occurring. The consultant will perform flood mapping and investigating the capacity of the existing drainage infrastructure throughout the area with a view to possible improvements or upgrades, as necessary.

Objective and scope

The objective of this project is to design and implement recommended infrastructure modifications identified as part of the drainage investigations undertaken by Council's contractor.

Investigations to understand the flood behaviour along Eastern Beach Road, Cunningham Street, and surrounding open drains will be used to design the best value upgrade to achieve resilient infrastructure and minimise future flood damage occurring.

Consultation and community engagement

This project was initiated following community feedback regarding flash flooding at the intersection of Eastern Beach Road and Cunningham Street.

A letter drop will be delivered to local residents and businesses to inform them of the proposed works to be undertaken and notified of the works schedule when available.
