The design of Stages 2-4 is nearing completion. The planning process is programmed to commence following the completion of community engagement for stage-4 which is located on the northern side of Cunninghame Arm; this 400m boardwalk will provide the missing link from Eastern Beach to the existing foreshore all-abilities shared pathway. The development of the northern boardwalk will provide a safe and accessible boardwalk directly from Eastern Beach to Lakes Entrance.

Council's Infrastructure Projects team leads the Way in green infrastructure development
Council’s Infrastructure Projects team is at the forefront of incorporating green initiatives into our construction projects, a significant step towards promoting sustainable practices and eco-friendly urban development. This commitment to environmental responsibility is evident in the materials used, with a strong focus on sourcing renewable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly options.
This dedication is showcased in the construction of the Krauatungalung Walk Stage-1 boardwalk in Lakes Entrance. This project stands out for its innovative use of recycled materials, with approximately 40% of the boardwalk's decking consisting of an Australian product crafted from recycled plastic and timber. By opting for sustainable composite products, Council is actively supporting the use of recycled and reclaimed materials, thereby diverting an impressive 5600kg of timber and plastic from ending up in landfills.
The decision to incorporate environmentally conscious materials not only showcases Council's commitment to sustainability but also highlights their proactive approach towards reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. By using sustainable composite products and implementing work practices that involve the separation of recyclable materials on-site, Council is setting a commendable example for other organizations to follow.
This initiative underscores our ongoing dedication to fostering green infrastructure and eco-friendly urban development. By prioritising the use of sustainable materials and adopting environmentally responsible practices, Council is paving the way for a more sustainable future.
As the emphasis on green initiatives continues to grow, Council remains steadfast in their commitment to creating a more environmentally conscious and sustainable community for all.
