Council will build new tourism infrastructure with a view to modernise the visitor stop-over viewing and interpretive facilities at this location, transforming the precinct into a significant tourist destination.

The project is positioned across two sites approximately 400 metres apart linked via roads and a walking track and will be completed in two stages, completed by Christmas 2019 and late 2020.

Stage 1 – Hotel Road Site

The Hotel Road site is immediately adjacent to the Princes Highway. The site comprises of recently upgraded bitumen car parking and associated landscaped garden beds.

There is a small existing timber lookout platform surrounded by bollards, which will be demolished and replaced with a modern but modest all abilities accessible pedestrian viewing platform.

Stage 2 - Lookout Road Site

The Lookout Road site is accessed on a bitumen sealed road with turning loop off Lookout Road and is situated adjacent to an existing grassed park area (Rotary Park) with some existing infrastructure.

An iconic new all abilities accessible pedestrian viewing platform will be constructed at this site.

Other works across both sites will include signage and interpretive facilities to provide a more comprehensive and informative experience for visitors. Signage will be installed on Princes Highway directing people to the viewing platforms from eastern and western approaches.
