What is the Circular Economy?

    A Circular Economy is a system that works to reduce waste, promote reuse of items and regeneration of the natural environment. Items can extend their life by sharing, leasing, repairing and refurbishing before being recycled.

    Where can I find a copy of the Waste Wise Recycling Guide and bin stickers?

    Copies of the Waste Wise Recycling guide can be found in the Environment & Waste section of Council website with lots of other useful information including transfer station addresses and opening times.

    Will the Recycling information be available once the grant has ended?

    The information will continue to be available both on the Council website and in Council Service Centres and Libraries to help our community to further understand the importance of recycling and reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

    How can I recycle things that don’t go in my yellow lid recycling bin?

    There are lots of things that can be reused or recycled that cannot go into our yellow lid recycling bin through our Council transfer stations. Many items that can be deposited for free including:

    • Steel
    • White goods
    • Batteries
    • Textiles
    • Cardboard
    • Glass bottles and jars

    What support can I get to reduce my waste?

    Council supports community member to purchase reuseable items such as worm farms, compost bins, reusable nappies and period products through the Reusable Rebate Scheme. More information and the Rebate application form can be found here.
