Council is undertaking a review of waste and recycling services to better meet the evolving needs of our community and respond to changing regulations. This initiative highlights our dedication to delivering accessible, cost-effective, and sustainable waste management solutions. for residents, businesses, and visitors. This proactive approach reflects Council's ongoing commitment to reducing waste to landfill, promoting reuse, and maximising recycling efforts across the region.
Objective and scope
The Waste Recycling Services Review for East Gippsland focuses on:
Achieving best value waste and recycling services,
Supporting circular economy opportunities,
Ensuring regulatory compliance,
Increasing waste diversion efforts,
Minimising environmental impacts,
Stetting clear directions for sustainable waste management into the future.
Consultation and community engagement
From July-September 2024 a community survey will be available along with pop ups. The opportunity to participate in five focus group sessions is also available for community members to attend. See details below.
Survey
This survey is Council’s first step to understanding how we plan and deliver waste and recycling services in the future. It typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete depending on your answers. By completing this survey, you will go into the running to win a $100 gift card to be used within the East Gippsland Shire.
Pop Up's are temporary setups in public places (such as markets, community events and shopping strips) where community members can share their thoughts and feedback on waste management and recycling issues. Council officers will be present to share information and answer questions about the review. Pop Up’s time and location details are shown below.
