East Gippsland Shire Council is preparing a structure plan for Eagle Point to help guide the future development of the area.

A Structure Plan provides greater certainty about the type of land use and development that may occur in the future for the whole town, rather than leaving development outcomes to be determined by the land’s zoning.

It allows Council to understand development outcomes that the community believes are important and use this to guide decisions about specific sites.

The first step in the process was the Emerging Options Paper. Once an option has been chosen, a Precinct Structure Plan based on that option will be prepared.

We will ask the community for feedback on the draft Precinct Structure Plan before a final version is prepared for adoption by council.

If community members have any concerns or queries, we encourage them to contact us. We are happy to meet with community members as we understand the importance of the structure plan to Eagle Point’s future development

Project updates will be provided to through Your Say East Gippsland, news releases, e-newsletters and direct consultation with residents and key stakeholders.

The Eagle Point Structure Plan Emerging Options Paper was released to the community for comment from June 19 to July 26, 2017. Council received a wide range of feedback from the community.

We have been collating and assessing the feedback to inform the draft Structure Plan. Each Eagle Point resident recently received a copy of a document that informs the community about what we heard during the first stage of consultation and the next steps in the process.

The next step is for the draft Structure Plan to be released to the community for comment later this year.

If any community members still wish to provide comment, we welcome the opportunity to meet with the community on a one-on-one basis. Meetings can be arranged by contacting Nicole Reynolds on 03 5153 9500.

Contributions to the Emerging Options Paper consultation are now closed.

Thank you to the community members who took the time to submit comments and feedback.

Next steps is for council staff to review all the comments to help develop a draft Structure Plan, which will be available for public comment and review.

That feedback will be used to finalise the plan, which will then be presented to Council for its consideration.

We are preparing a structure plan for Eagle Point to help guide the future growth and development of this area.

The first step is to draft an Emerging Options Paper, which we are now asking the community to review and provide us with feedback.

The Emerging Options Paper presents two options for development. Once we receive feedback on the paper and understand which option the community prefers, a draft Precinct Structure Plan based on the feedback received will be prepared.

We encourage you to view the Eagle Point Emerging Options Paper in the document library of this web page or at the Bairnsdale or Paynesville Customer Service Centre.
