The Cann River Transfer Station project is progressing steadily toward delivering a modern, safe, and efficient waste facility for the region. Designed to support sustainable waste management practices and future growth, the project has reached several key milestones since the last update in May 2025.
Progress Highlights:
- Masterplan finalised
Talis Consultants completed the revised Masterplan, incorporating community feedback and operational enhancements. - Site investigations complete
Feature survey and geotechnical reports are finalised and now guiding civil design. -
Environmental & Heritage Assessments
- Native Vegetation Assessment: Completed and compliant
- Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP): Discussions ongoing with Traditional Owners and heritage specialists

Design development
- Sawtooth bays reinstated
- Dedicated areas for green waste, bulky items, and recycling
- Improved sightlines from the gatehouse
- Water drainage and stormwater pond included
- Space allocated for spare bins and operational equipment
Next steps
- Finalise planning permit documentation by Mid December 2025
- Continue engagement with Environmental and Cultural Heritage stakeholders
- Detailed design complete early 2026
